In practice

Not every problem an African institution faces has a method waiting on a shelf. Crop types, mineral signatures, languages, road networks, rainfall regimes and administrative records here differ enough from the training sets of imported models that the imported models quietly fail.

This is where we do the work that has no customer yet: feasibility studies, proofs of concept, benchmarking, validation, and the development of indigenous methods tuned to local conditions, usually alongside a university, a ministry or a research institute.

What you get

The work, as deliverables.

Five things this line produces. Every engagement is assembled from some combination of them.

Applied research programmes Multi-month investigations with a defined question, a published method and a decision at the end of them.
Proof of concept & feasibility Short, hard-edged studies that establish whether a thing can work here before anyone commits a budget to it.
Benchmarking & validation Independent measurement of a system against local data, including models procured from elsewhere.
Laboratories & pilot centres Testing facilities, simulation environments and prototype units, run on behalf of a partner or jointly.
Research partnership Joint programmes with universities, institutes, ministries and private laboratories, including supervision and co-authorship.
Registered scope

Clause (d), word for word.

Transcribed from the objects clause of the memorandum of association. Nothing below has been shortened, softened or rewritten. If a piece of work is not described here, we will say so before quoting for it.

  1. To carry on the business of scientific research, technological research, industrial research, applied research, experimental development, and innovation in artificial intelligence, computer science, engineering, geoscience computing, and related fields;
  2. To establish, operate, manage, and maintain research laboratories, innovation hubs, incubation centers, testing facilities, simulation environments, pilot project centers, and prototype development units;
  3. To conduct feasibility studies, pilot projects, proof-of-concept development, system testing, benchmarking, validation, and evaluation of technological systems and innovations;
  4. To develop indigenous technological solutions, systems, algorithms, and innovations tailored to industrial, environmental, agricultural, mining, and socio-economic challenges;
  5. To collaborate with universities, research institutions, governments, and private entities in research and development programs;

If this is close to what you need, the next step is a short scoping call, not a proposal document.

Next step

Tell us the decision that is going wrong.

Not the technology you think you need. The decision, who makes it, and on what evidence. We will tell you plainly whether there is a system in it.
